Credential Engine Ohio

Ohio Department of Higher Education is partnering with national non-profit Credential Engine to make critical information about credentials public, easily accessible, and actionable. When information about credentials is transparent, Ohioans can find, understand, and compare education and career opportunities to make well-informed decisions. ODHE is working to include credentials from all Ohio institutions, public and private, in the open-source Credential Registry.

Information for public institutions

ODHE added essential information about credentials to the Registry on behalf of all public institutions. The next phase of the project is for institutions to update credentials and maintain the data moving forward.

1. Create a Credential Engine user account at your institution. Complete this survey or contact Sri Vidya Uppalapati at ODHE for more information.
2. Update your institution's credential information. (PDF instructions + video instructions.)
                Use the Credential Publisher to publish the updated data. 

                  Refer to the Bulk Upload Guide to download credentials and begin updating credentials 

Information for private institutions

ODHE encourages private institutions to add their information to the Credential Registry. 

1. Create a Credential Engine account.
2. Follow the guidance on adding credential information. (Feel free to use this blank credential upload template.)

Updates

Institutions are expected to update information each quarter. ODHE will review every August to verify new credential programs have been published.
